Hello everyone! I wanted to give a little update on life at the Manzano Mountains HawkWatch.

Migration season has definitely kicked into high gear on the ridge. We have had multiple days with over one hundred birds, including a day where we counted 121 raptors!  Our recent raptor highlights have included our first Zone-tailed and Broad-winged Hawks of the season, numerous Ospreys and a Bald Eagle! We also banded our first Peregrine Falcon of the season, a lovely hatch year bird.

Peak season is upon us and it is a perfect time to come up and visit us on the ridge. We will be counting raptors until November 5th, so come on up!
