Sunday, September 12, 2010 Lipan Point Raptor Migration Site, Grand Canyon 9:00 am Join HWI Research Biologist/SW Monitoring Coordinator Mike Neal at our long-term raptor migration monitoring site on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. This field trip will provide participants the experience of seeing a broad-front of migrating raptors as they make their way across the Grand Canyon. Other treats will include sightings of resident California Condors, Peregrine Falcons, and Zone-tailed Hawks.
This field trip will also serve as an initial training session for those who may wish to participate as Citizen Scientists, collecting data at Lipan Point this season.
Participants should bring: binoculars, spotting scope (optional), one gallon of water, appropriate clothing layers to handle any weather, a wide brim hat, sunscreen, and a sack lunch.
