Conservation Groups

  • American Bird Conservancy
    American Bird Conservancy (ABC) is a not-for-profit organization, whose mission is to conserve wild birds and their habitats throughout the Americas. It is the only U.S. based, group dedicated solely to overcoming the greatest threats facing birds in the Western Hemisphere. ABC draws on people and organizations through bird conservation networks to identify the most critical issues affecting birds in the Americas. It believes that unifying entities around common approaches to priority issues is the key to success.

  • American Birding Association (ABA)
    The ABA represents a whole range of birding interests, from identification and education to listing and conservation. They actively promote economic and environmental values of birding, and encourage conservation of birds and their habitats.

  • Environmental Defense
    Environmental Defense is a national nonprofit organization representing more than 400,000 members. It brings together experts in science, law and economics to tackle complex environmental issues that affect our oceans, air, natural resources, the livability of our man-made environment, and the species with whom we share our world.

  • Judson Lake Trumpeter Swans
    Tragic evidence of an annual Trumpeter Swan die-off related to lead poisoning. Site includes video footage of Bald Eagles feeding on tainted swan carcasses. The group is actively engaged in a campaign to stop the senseless deaths of these birds.

  • Michigan Loon Preservation Association
    The mission of the Michigan Loon Preservation Association is to conserve and enhance the Common Loon Population through research, habitat protection and restoration, species protection, and public awareness and involvement. Its critical issues are: financial survival,
    lead toxicosis, watercraft threats to loons, fishing net entrapment and drowning.

  • National Audubon Society
    Audubon's mission is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity. Their national network of community-based nature centers and chapters, scientific and educational programs, and advocacy on behalf of areas sustaining important bird populations, engage millions of people of all ages and backgrounds in positive conservation experiences.

  • National Wildlife Federation (NWF) Rocky Mountain Field Office
    The Rocky Mountain Natural Resource Center, located in Boulder, Colorado, is at the forefront of NWF's efforts to preserve and protect wildlife on public lands. Its other goals include: to protect and restore wildlife habitat on tribal lands and empower America's first land stewards; to strengthen protection for critical migratory bird habitat along the Central Platte River; to provide training and resources to classroom educators and homeowners on the importance of providing wildlife habitat in their own backyards; and to promote environmental education in the broader community.

  • Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC)
    SETAC is an independent, nonprofit professional society that provides a forum for individuals and institutions engaged in study of environmental issues, management and conservation of natural resources, environmental education, and environmental research and development. SETAC's mission is to support the development of principles and practices for protection, enhancement and management of sustainable environmental quality and ecosystem integrity.

  • The Tasmanian Conservation Trust
    This website identifies unresolved issues associated with duck hunting in Tasmania, which includes the issue of lead pollution in Tasmania waterways as well as the primary and secondary lead poisoning of waterfowl and other native fauna. The Trust is a voluntary nonprofit organization working on conservation issues, especially those that directly affect Tasmania.

  • The Trumpeter Swan Society
    The Trumpeter Swan Society (TTSS) is the only continent-wide private, nonprofit organization dedicated to assuring the vitality and welfare of wild Trumpeter Swan populations.

    The Wilderness Society brings to bear scientific expertise, analysis and advocacy at the highest levels to save, protect and restore America's wilderness areas.
