Founded in
1883, the American Ornithologists' Union is the oldest and largest organization
in the New World devoted to the scientific study of birds. Although
the AOU primarily is a professional organization, its membership of
about 4,000 includes many amateurs dedicated
to the advancement
of ornithological science.

advice, support and information to members of Congress. It, in partnership
with the National Shooting Sports Foundation, produced The
American Sportsman - Take a Closer Look, a report that presents
statistics demonstrating hunting and fishing as not just leisure activities,
but major contributors to the economy.

Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (IAFWA)
IAFWA was
founded in 1902 as a quasi-governmental organization of public agencies
charged with the protection and management of North America's fish and
wildlife resources.
- Native
American Fish and Wildlife Society
The Society
is a nonprofit membership organization that represents professional
biologists, natural resource managers, technicians, and conservation
law enforcement officers. It exists for the protection, conservation
and enhancement of Native American fish & wildlife resources.
- The
Wildlife Management Institute (WMI)
WMI is a professional
conservation organization that works to improve the professional foundation
of wildlife management. It was established in 1911 by sportsmen/businessmen
gravely concerned about the dramatic declines of many wildlife populations.
