Students of every age have taken part in our onsite activities. Students in the K-6 level participate in subject related games and activities. Activities conform to Florida’s Sunshine State Curriculum and many students come away with a greater appreciation for raptors and an excellent understanding of complex terms such as “pesticide accumulation.”

Older students (Grades 7-highschool) are lead in raptor ecology, migration, and identification activities and participate in the raptor count. High school students also have the opportunity to witness the banding operation thanks to the new visitor’s blind.

A variety of local citizens and community groups have also participated in our onsite activities. Audubon chapters from around South Florida and the Keys have come to see the migration. The observation area is often packed during weekends as many visitors return throughout the peak. The hawk watch at Curry Hammock State Park has developed a reputation among birdwatchers as Florida's premier location to observe raptor migration!
