The mission of HawkWatch International (HWI) is to conserve our environment through education, long-term monitoring, and scientific research on raptors as indicators of ecosystem health. We believe that through our efforts to monitor and protect birds of prey (also known as raptors), we can also protect our shared environment, our rich natural heritage, and ourselves. HWI was founded as a non-profit, tax-exempt 501 (c)(3) organization in 1986.

  
HawkWatch International is proud to present our new logo! In designing our new logo, we aimed to create a symbolic representation of our organizational vision. We think the end result meets that goal by signifying raptor migration and our vision of an environment where raptors can live free from human-created threats.

HawkWatch International Vision Statement

We at HawkWatch International envision our work contributing to a greater public awareness of humanity's place in nature and of its responsibility to the rest of life. We envision a public that understands and appreciates the importance of healthy, biologically diverse ecosystems. We strive to achieve this by focusing on raptors as indicators of ecoystem health, by scientifically monitoring long-term trends in their populations and by working to promote conservation actions based on sound science. Our aim is to advance the stewardship of nature by engaging the public in citizen-science projects and education programs. We hope to promote an ethic of ecological sustainability and conservation that spans generations.
