New Blind Visitation Policy at all Raptor Migration Trapping/Banding Sites
Please be aware that the public is no longer able to visit the trapping blinds at any of HWI's raptor migration sites. All are still welcome to participate in the observation areas. As a collective agreement made by HWI staff and board we are implementing this policy change in order to minimize distraction for the crews working in the trapping stations.
We understand many long-time visitors will be upset by this policy change. Please understand this decision was made to benefit the quality of our critical scientific work, to better ensure the safety of the birds of prey, as well as the "lure birds" used to attract them. Please note that visitors will still have the opportunity to see a recently banded bird up close, before its release back into the wild. If you have concerns you'd like to express, please email us at
