This new grant will support additional deployments at four project sites and enable an expansion to our newest migration site in Wyoming. Since 1998, HWI affiliates have emerged as pioneers in applying another complimentary technique called stable-isotope analysis to determine the natal origins of hawks observed at migration-monitoring sites. A 2003 NFWF grant allowed HWI to greatly expand this research to three species of western raptors. Our new 2004 grant enables continuation of this work, expanding the research to four new species and our new Wyoming project site.
To receive NFWF grant monies, we must demonstrate a 2-to-1 match of non-federal dollars or in-kind service. Half of this match will be met by volunteer service provided by our field crews. The second half must be monetary donations, hence our request to you for a special gift in support of this important research project.
NEW! You can donate your used vehicle to HawkWatch through Independent Charities of America.
